An editorial team that organises itself

As with the first issue, each published article is the result of a genuine editorial process: choosing a topic, making contact, conducting interviews, writing, photography, proofreading and layout via MagTuner.

This second issue marks a further step: the editorial team no longer needs to be told how to organise itself. The learning process is organic and integrated. It is — once again — bluffant!

• Accredited journalists in the field
The articles on the Savigny Animation Film Festival and the concerts of the Jorat schools at the church in Mézières were produced as a team, on site. The editorial team organised its own meetings with the people involved — and sent its own accreditation requests.

• Concert of the Jorat schools
For the introductory text, Alix spontaneously offered her perspective and support to complement Donovan’s report and the images by our photographer Mathieu. All three were present at the afternoon dress rehearsal. Once again, this showed Alix’s strong editorial instinct and the way she fully embraces her role as Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

• Esther’s key interview
Zosia, who had just finalised a portrait of a local business, chose to give her place to Esther for the interview with Marjolaine Perreten, which the editorial team considered to be a particularly important news item. A mature editorial decision, taken collectively in the interest of the newspaper.

• MagTuner in Donovan’s hands
Using the MagTuner platform, Donovan independently created the issue’s flatplan — the planning tool used to define the organisation and length of the articles before layout. It is rare to see a young contributor use this tool with such a degree of autonomy while also integrating genuine editorial thinking.
This approach shows the maturity the editorial team has gained in the space of just one issue.
