Achievements
Kernel Media Project is built on concrete experiences carried out with media, schools, institutions and young contributors. Some of the achievements presented here were carried out under the name MagTuner, the tool and experience from which Kernel Media Project gradually developed.
These projects show how a newsroom can become a space for learning, production, cooperation and responsibility.
History
Before Kernel Media Project was created in its current form, several projects were developed around MagTuner, newspaper creation, media education and editorial production with young people.
The MagTuner project grew out of school newspaper workshops held at HEP Vaud. This experience led to the development of a prototype that made it possible to create, lay out and publish newspapers in a simpler and more collaborative way.
In 2014, a workshop and the MagTuner prototype were presented at HEP Vaud during the conference “Creativity and learning: a tandem to be reinvented?”. This stage marked the transition from a workshop-based practice to a more structured tool, capable of supporting editorial projects in different contexts.
Between 2014 and 2021, MagTuner was notably used as part of Media Week at School in French-speaking Switzerland, through the Front Page Competition.
Kernel Media Project now continues this story in a broader form: an association, an educational approach, editorial achievements and a network of field partners.
